Berkhamsted has no shortage of period homes with open fireplaces and log burners, and we are happy to keep them supplied. Amersham Saw Mill delivers seasoned firewood, kindling and coal across Berkhamsted and the nearby villages, all prepared at our own saw mill in the Chilterns.
Logs That Are Ready to Burn
Every log we sell has been seasoned under cover for around 18 months, bringing the moisture content down to roughly 25%. Our logs are cut to approximately 255mm, which fits most stoves and fireplaces, so there is no extra chopping before you can use them.
How Many Logs Will I Need?
A builders bag holds around 230 to 260 logs and usable pieces of firewood. How long that lasts depends on your stove and how often you light it, but most of our customers order three or four bags each winter. The summer is a great time to stock up, as the wood keeps drying and you have your supply sorted before the cold weather arrives.
